Recovery has several milestones

A 330-patient mitral-repair trial found a one-day shorter median hospital stay with minithoracotomy, without superior physical function at 12 weeks.

Compare the treatment, surgical approach and team

“Robotic”, “bypass” and “valve repair” describe different parts of a plan. First identify the heart problem and the intended benefit. Then compare suitable treatments. Finally, choose a team with experience in that exact procedure.

The treatmentThe correction the operation is designed to makeBypass, valve repair or replacement, aortic reconstruction or myectomy
The accessThe route used to reach the heartSternotomy, a smaller chest incision, robotic assistance or a catheter

Does minimally invasive heart surgery mean faster recovery?

A smaller incision describes access, not the operation itself. Compare the same procedure and the recovery milestone that matters to you. In a randomized mitral-repair trial, a shorter hospital stay did not translate into superior physical function at 12 weeks. The minimally invasive guide explains that distinction.

Complex valve repair and valve-sparing aortic-root surgery

Anadolu in Gebze offers complex valve repair and replacement of an enlarged aortic root while retaining the natural valve. Smaller-incision valve operations and selected robotic mitral or tricuspid procedures are also part of its cardiovascular programme.

  • Native-valve preservation The programme includes complex valve repairs and valve-sparing aortic-root replacement.
  • Several access options Selected mitral and tricuspid procedures can use robotic access; minimally invasive valve surgery is also described.
  • Adult and paediatric scope Haşim Üstünsoy’s institutional profile covers both adult and paediatric cardiovascular surgery.

Robotic valve repair with a structured early-recovery pathway

DHZC in Berlin pairs robotic mitral repair with ERMICS, a recovery pathway linking anaesthesia, pain control and early mobilisation. Its bypass service also describes conventional, beating-heart and selected robotic approaches.

  • Dated robotic experience DHZC reported more than 260 robotic operations on 12 November 2025 after starting the programme earlier that year.
  • Recovery starts in hospital ERMICS supports transfer to a regular ward on the day of minimally invasive valve surgery for suitable patients.
  • Different bypass approaches The coronary service describes conventional surgery, beating-heart bypass and selected robotic options.

Other heart conditions that need a specialist team

Adults with congenital heart disease need specialist care even after childhood surgery. Advanced heart failure may involve treatment of an underlying coronary or valve problem, an assist device or transplantation.

In patients with atrial fibrillation already needing cardiac surgery, rhythm surgery and left-atrial-appendage treatment address different risks. Appendage closure does not automatically replace anticoagulants.

Prepare for a heart surgery second opinion

Bring the diagnosis, your recent imaging reports and the proposed operation together. A second opinion is more useful when the next team can explain what it would do, why, and how that differs from the first recommendation.

Start a request on Bookimed with your treatment topic already selected. A coordinator can help you clarify the team, destination, recovery plan and costs.
