At a glance

Weill Cornell’s Mario Gaudino explicitly practises multiple arterial CABG, including radial and bilateral internal mammary grafts. His research helps explain the long-term implications of conduit choice independently of a robotic or conventional incision.

Specific graft expertise

The official profile names radial arteries and both internal mammary arteries among his clinical interests.

1,036 randomized patients

A pooled analysis found fewer deaths, heart attacks or repeat procedures with radial-artery than saphenous-vein grafts at median ten-year follow-up.

Randomized data on radial artery versus vein grafts

Gaudino led a patient-level analysis of 1,036 participants from randomized trials. At median ten-year follow-up, radial-artery grafting was associated with fewer events in the composite of death, myocardial infarction or repeat revascularization than saphenous-vein grafting.

How to interpret this: Pooled trials from five countries, not his own surgical cohort. The comparison concerns one conduit choice and does not establish superiority of all multiple-arterial strategies or robotic access.
