PULSED FIELD ABLATION / TREATMENT CHOICES

Cleveland Clinic PFA programme: devices, assessment and follow-up

Cleveland Clinic’s Ohio electrophysiology programme reports routine atrial PFA with FARAPULSE and Affera/Sphere-9. Its multidisciplinary AF team assesses paroxysmal and persistent AF and offers a documented follow-up route. Start through 800.659.7822; a specific PFA procedural campus and assigned operator were not established in the official sources reviewed. [1][2][3]

Two documented systems

FARAPULSE provides rapid pulmonary-vein isolation; Sphere-9/Affera combines mapping with a choice of pulsed-field or radiofrequency energy. These are different systems, not interchangeable trial results. [1]

A clinical-team route

The AF team assesses your rhythm history, test results and prior treatment before deciding whether ablation is appropriate. An assessment address is not confirmation of your procedural location. [2][3]

An individual treatment estimate

Ohio has an individual estimate route, not a verified PFA package price here. The £18,080 Cleveland Clinic London tariff does not price Ohio treatment. [4][5]

What this programme offers

The May 2025 institutional report names Boston Scientific FARAPULSE and Medtronic Sphere-9 with Affera mapping and ablation as routinely used systems. It describes atrial PFA as established practice while ventricular PFA was investigational in that report. This dated programme evidence is not live inventory or a treatment offer. [1]

PFA uses electrical pulses rather than heating or freezing tissue. Tissue selectivity may reduce injury to nearby structures and procedures can be quicker, but bleeding, fluid around the heart and stroke remain possible. AF can recur, and ablation may need repeating; neither the institution’s announcement nor a device brand is a personal success prediction. [6][7]

Who the team serves

The AF Center serves people with paroxysmal or persistent AF and evaluates rhythm control, rate control and stroke-prevention options. Cardiologists, electrophysiologists, surgeons, imaging specialists and nurses contribute. Medication, catheter PVI and surgical options are considered according to the individual history—not every person with AF needs PFA. [3][2]

Oussama Wazni’s current official profile identifies him as Section Head of Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing. This is team leadership, not a promise that he will perform your procedure. The programme source does not supply an audited PFA-only volume for an assigned doctor. [8][1]

Assessment, records and the site boundary

Call 800.659.7822 or use the official AF Center appointment route. The center asks for an ECG/rhythm strip, echocardiogram report, relevant cardiac tests and clinical records; prior ablation patients should include the electrophysiology procedure report. Initial assessment includes a nurse, nurse practitioner or physician assistant and then the AF physician. [3]

The EP service lists Desk J2 – 2 at 9500 Euclid Avenue as an assessment route. The AF Center separately gives Desk J1 – 5 as visit directions and J2 – 2 for records. Follow the destination in your appointment instructions. The three official sources checked for procedural-location recovery did not explicitly identify a PFA campus: no campus is inferred here from either office directions or a footer. [2][3]

How the trial evidence relates to this programme

ADVENT tested FARAPULSE in drug-refractory paroxysmal AF against pooled radiofrequency/cryoballoon ablation. It established noninferiority at one year, not superiority and not an Ohio-specific success rate. The Cleveland announcement reports participation in ADVENT and PULSED AF; study participation is not a guarantee of your operator or outcome. ADVENT’s FARAPULSE results do not establish Affera/Sphere-9 outcomes. [9][10][11]

Consultation and treatment costs

Use Cleveland’s official cost-estimate service for an individual Ohio estimate. The service uses insurance and historical charge information; no PFA-specific amount has been calculated for this guide. Initial consultation/testing, professional fees, hospital treatment and follow-up should be identified separately in the resulting estimate. [4]

For context only, the London comparison route publishes Oliver Segal’s new and follow-up consultation fees at £350 GBP each (checked 8 October 2026). This is neither a Cleveland fee nor a PFA price. Do not compare that consultation figure with a hospital treatment package. [12]

The documented follow-up route

The AF Center’s general PVI pathway describes a visit 3–4 months after the procedure with its nursing staff and physician. Possible tests include cardiac CT, ECG, echocardiogram and blood work. The PFA-specific patient guide separately describes visits at one, three and six months, then every six months, sometimes with ECG. Your discharge schedule should specify which pathway applies. [3][6]

The AF Center’s general PVI instructions describe staying overnight after treatment and an extra local night for people living more than two hours away. This is a general PVI pathway, not a universal PFA stay or permission to fly. Keep prescribed medicines unchanged unless your treating team directs otherwise. [3]
